Topic Title: VoIP and Phoner ISDN Soft Phone Application

Phoner is a Windows application, a so called SoftPhone, that enables to phone using an ISDN card and sound card. The connection to analogue (POTS) and digital receivers (ISDN) is built up by using CAPI. This driver interface comes with your ISDN equipment.

Phoner establishes for outgoing calls a (chargeable) connection over your normal phone line. The charge will be the same as using your normal phone device. Since version 1.66 you can use VoIP (Voice over IP) by establishing connections to other SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) users.

Every PC with ISDN hardware (PCI or USB) can be converted into a normal phone and all the supplementary services of ISDN can be used in a comfortable way. Phoner is freeware, so this program can be used and distributed without any restrictions. Distribution has to be free of charge.

We classify true VoIP and SIP applications as those which can be interfaced with your network using telephone adapters. Phoner meets this classification as an ISDN product and it appears to be a great free download. You can get it here. The link will open in a new window. A screenshot is here
