In a previous discussion we said the EyeP Phone from EyeP Media was not our phone of choice, due to the codecs used by the free version of the phone. Let's explain.

FWD eyeP Phone Professional contains the audio codecs (coder decoder) required for a decent and clear conversation. X-Ten Lite has G711u, G711a, GSM, and ILBC codecs in the free package. We realize that there is no free ride, but in our comparison we downloaded and tried eyeP Phone and then we deleted it from the hard drive. The graphical interface was difficult on a laptop, and audio quality was not there.

eyeP Media has many great products and is a major factor in the SIP and VOIP field. We do not downplay their contribution to this ever-changing technology. We are, however, trying to save our visitors a little time.

As more major players enter the VON (voice over the net) and VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) market our writers cannot ignore the fact that different marketing strategies must be adopted relative to this software.
