Hot Voip Phones tested Stanaphone and was pleased with the results. As a possible Vonage alternative, we selected a 646 area code, which is Manhattan (New York.) Sound quality is outstanding and testing has been a breeze. Installation was quick and very easy. Even non-technical users will enjoy this easy installation.

From any phone in the world our web visitors can call us at 646.225.5225 and it immediately rings on the computer and through our ATA adapter from Grandstream. Rates in the US are 2 cents a minute in most places, and international rates are also 2 cents to most countries. The service is free, and Stanaphone to Stanaphone calls are also free. You only need the per minute rate if you want to use VOIP to land line service. Calls to toll free numbers are also free.

Replies to our suport questions, and from all indications, support replies in the StanaForums are slow in coming. There are enough answers in Stanaphone's forums to help most people.

Calls within the state of Missouri USA are some of the most expensive in the United States and are billed at 14 cents a minute. We have a toll free number that rings to the cell phone, but if a toll free call originates in Missouri we are charged 14 cents a minute, not 4.5 cents as advertised. Stanaphone becomes our best deal. We originate the call from the computer, and our rate is only 2 cents a minute.

Stanaphone has a call log, caller ID, no latency and no echo. They claim that Stanaphone is for broadband use, and we didn't test it with a dial up connection. Our tests were with 1.5 mbps DSL and a USB headset. One nice feature is that voicemail is received as a file attached to your email, and they send the email as soon as the wav file is processed. No setup is required, and no audio configuration was required. We give Stanaphone an outstanding rating. Both Stanaphone and Glophone offer paid acounts so you may call non - VON or VOIP numbers. That would be defined as telephone calls from your voice over the net phone to telephones on the plain old telephone switching network like a standard house or business phone. We must reiterate poor response to our emails to Stanaphone. The company had a supply and demand disaster when they tried to sell ATA adapters. They do respond well when we fund our account by credit card, but that may be automated.
