On November 16, 200, a Yak press release said they are making a major move into internet telephony, more so than they already have. They said "YakForFree offers unlimited calling among members of the service, which debuts next month at a cost of $20 per month. The service is expected to be particularly popular in the various immigrant communities of the United States and Canada where residents are eager to maintain regular contact with family back in their homelands."

Their virtual video phone has an impressive list of features and uses the X-ten framework. Their overview shows a six line video phone.

Yak Communications, an integrated communications provider (ICP) to residential and business customers, launched its yakUnlimited Calling Plan for U.S. and Canadian subscribers at $19.99/C$24.99 a month. This plan is in addition to its other VoIP services--yakForFree peer-to-peer virtual video-phone and yakToAnyone PC-to-PSTN Calling.

Charles Zwebner, CEO of Yak, believes that their product roster offers consumer-based products on both ends of the spectrum, whether a Skype or Vonage-type offering or a crossover hybrid in between, with an easy migration process. During the past month, Yak claims that it recorded over 15,000 downloads of their free PC-to-PC product while over 1,000 consumers upgraded to a paying service.
