VoIP for eBay where Skype is not the only option
Skype, an eBay company, is an easy way for members to communicate. Skype is a simple software application you download and install on your computer. With Skype you can talk to anyone, anywhere for free. The latest version of Skype's voice over Internet Protocol service, which includes call forwarding and downloadable ring tones, pictures and sounds, is an E-Bay company product. There is no requirement to use Skype with eBay but it is templated in so sellers can select Skype as a method of contact in addition to eBay's built in email system.
For the eBay seller that wants to use a different VoIP service we recommend one with free incoming calls and a real phone number. For that purpose we selected Stanaphone. What is the advantage? People call our New York city phone number from any phone anywhere. If needed we can forward our Stanaphone calls to our cell phone, so if we are buying items for our eBay store we never miss a customer service call. Perhaps Skype is easier, but Stanaphone is more professional in our opinion.
Many items can run outside of eBay. Just look at the example below. If you want to display your phone number in eBay listings, templates, invoices or packing slips, you must add it yourself if it is not a Skype number. For eBay stores the best idea with the greatest return on investment is a dedicated domain name which points to your eBay store.
