Yak for Free - yak's Virtual VideoPhone
With yak's Virtual VideoPhone you can make and receive phone calls with real-time video over a high-speed Internet connection directly from your PC without the need for a regular analog phone. All you need is your PC, a microphone and a PC camera.
The Yak system (should we capitalize that if they don't?) uses an Xten phone and the yakForFree service requires that both the caller and recipient download and join the yakCommunity. To make calls outside of the yakCommunity, check out yak's WorldCity VoIP products and services
The yak Phone Adapter allows you to use your existing telephone to make phone calls over a high-speed Internet connection. If you would like to use your existing telephone or a fax machine, the yak Phone Adapter is for you. With the phone adapter, you don't even need a computer to make phone calls.
With a Vonage type of pricing structure for off net calls, yak all day & all night to anyone, anywhere, anytime, as much as you want for $19.99 when we last checked. They have other programs too. But if your intent is to do video conferencing for free and you haven't decided on a provider check out the service from Yak.

Canada and areas in the United States that are E911 compliant are the only areas available for yak Unlimited at the time we wrote this. Yak Communications reported revenues of $24 million for the second quarter of 2006, as compared to $24.2 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2005.
